United States
We’ve expanded our ESG coverage in the United States with the addition of a new dataset from NOAA, which collects information on the natural catastrophe disasters that generated at least a billion dollars in costs. Occurrences and annual costs are available, per type of natural catastrophe.
We can see in the chart below that such occurrences have been increasing year on year since 1980, driven by the increase in severe storms and tropical cyclones. Tropical cyclones also generate the largest costs.
European Union
We have expanded the datasets we carry from the EBA Risk Dashboard with the addition of EU countries’ exposure to Russia. Three main breakdowns are available:
- Exposure towards Russian counterparts
- Deposits from Russian counterparts
- Off-balance sheet exposure towards Russian counterparts
In the chart below, we display the deposits’ breakdowns from Russian counterparts across EU countries.
Sweden
We have boosted our real estate data coverage for Sweden with the addition of real estate price indicators for holiday homes, per county. The dataset is measured at the ‘Purchase-Price Coefficient’, which is defined as the ratio between the purchase price and the assessed value.
In the chart below, we calculated a mean and several percentiles across the Swedish counties. What is worth noting is the increase in the trend line’s slope during the pandemic, bringing the ratio above 2 (i.e., indicating a purchase price two-times higher than the assessed real estate value). With the increase of interest rates in the spring 2022, the coefficient is now starting to decline, indicating that the real estate market for holiday homes is starting is cool off.
