New Zealand

For New-Zealand, we recently added daily tourism data.

The dataset presents Arrivals & Departures, broken-down in five dimensions:

• Age Group
• Gender
• Neo-Zealander vs. foreigners
• Itinerary: from & to which airport
• Air vs Sea travel

While the dataset is very granular, the chart below aggregates the data in top-down perspective, displaying the daily total arrivals, broken down between New Zealanders and foreigners.

New Zealand has maintained some of the toughest travel restrictions in the world since March 2020, closing down the borders except for few exceptions. The chart below illustrates this point clearly.

However, on April 19th, New Zealand and Australia opened a two-way travel bubble, allowing passengers to move between the two countries quarantine-free. This is highlighted with the sudden jump of the daily indicator below, and is a first step toward economic recovery for the travel and tourism sectors of both countries.

United States

We’ve added more indicators to track the U.S. Treasury Marketable debt.

In the chart below, we’ve looked at the maturity distribution of the outstanding marketable treasury debt. In the 2nd pane, the average maturity length is displayed, standing now at 67 months.

Mexico

For Mexico, we’ve added the nowcast series for the Economic Activity Index (IGAE).

The IGAE is an indicator allowing analysts to monitor on a monthly basis the evolution of the real sector of the economy. In a way, it can be considered as a monthly proxy of GDP (the historical correlation is close to 0,94).

In the chart below, we extended the historical series, now only available until February, with the Nowcasted value for March, showing a YoY decline of 2,2%.
